Pinocchio is a big, handsome pig who is in need of a forever home! He was purchased as a baby from a breeder by a family that loved him. They kept him in the home and reported that he did well indoors until he became so large they had to move him to a barn on the property. His owner sadly became so ill she could no longer care for him so we stepped in to make sure he would be safe.
Pinocchio is 205 lbs at a healthy weight and is very tall. We suspect he may be a pot belly crossed with a much larger pig breed. He has been fully vetted and is ready to be adopted. He has also bonded quite a bit with a fellow Wayward resident pig, Simba! We hope they'll be adopted together!
Pinochs is a pretty typical old man who loves to grumble and wants to make sure everyone knows what exactly his mood is. If he doesn't know you and you get close to him (or if he does know you but doesn't like you), he'll grump and complain until you leave him alone. If he does know and like you, he'll get up and come greet you, but will grunt the whole time so you know just how much effort he's putting into coming to say hi and that you had better be appropriately thankful that he's deigning to walk ALL the way over to say hi.
He's also mastered the art of flopping over for belly rubs and landing directly on your feet so you aren't able to leave until he's decided he's done.
Simba however, came to us with an almost completely opposite backstory than his best buddy, Pinocchio.
Like Pinochs, he was originally purchased as a mini-pig but instead of ending with a family who stuck with him until they had no other option, Simba's family rehomed him. He finally ended up with us after being bounced from home to home through social media. Like many potbelly pigs he had been rehomed because he grew too big and also because of poor behavior - such as constantly trying to figure out ways to escape his enclosure. When Simba first came to us, he was an extremely difficult pig, which is very common for unneutered males. He was neutered shortly after arriving, and while he has made a lot of progress with his behavior, he is still a dominant pig who needs structure and boundaries to behave his best.
Luckily, Pinocchio will step in and help out if Simba is getting out of line (if Pinochs likes you, that is).
We think both of these guys would do well being adopted as either an indoor or outdoor pigs, although they would likely need a refresher on their housebreaking since they haven't lived indoors in many years.
