Our Adoptions Process

So you want to adopt a new pet, but aren't sure where to start? Just follow these simple steps!

Step 1: Check out our adoptable animals! Make sure you read through the information on each animal carefully to be sure they would be a good fit for your home. If you see an animal that could be a good match, move on to Step 2. You can also give us a call if you are having trouble deciding on an animal!

Step 2: Fill out an adoption application for the species of animal you are interested in! You can note which individual you are most interested in or you can complete the application and let us recommend an animal for you. Make sure you include ALL of the required information in your application. If not, we will not be able to approve your application. Applications will be responded to as quickly as possible, but keep in mind we are a small rescue and we may not get back to you for a few days. If you have any questions about your application you can contact us at any time.

Step 3: Once your application is approved, you will set up a day and time to come and meet the animal you are interested in adopting! Some animals are approved for same day adoption, others require multiple visits. Our goal is to make sure you feel a strong connection with them in person before making a commitment to them for life.

Step 4: Once you are sure you are ready to adopt and you know who you want to adopt, and you love them as much in person as you would hope, it's time for the home visit! Due to COVID-19 we have begun doing the majority of our home visits virtually, so you will be asked to do a video walkthrough of your home or barn so we can be sure it will be a safe environment for your new pet.

Step 5: Adoption! It's time to bring your new furry friend home, sign the adoption paperwork, and enjoy them!

We are grateful to have had several wonderful photographers donate their time and skill to photograph our animals and their lives here. While many photos on our site were taken by WRAS Staff Members, others were taken by:
