Marvel

This beautiful girl is Marvel, a 2-3 year old pit mix that came to us in October from another rescue. Her history is a bit of mystery, but it seems she was found as a stray several months ago and was brought to an animal control kennel. From there, a New York based rescue pulled her and kept her in a rented boarding kennel, not realizing she was pregnant. When a kennel worked noticed she was showing signs of labor, they rushed her to the vet hospital where she gave birth to a litter of puppies. Scared, hormonal, and unsure of what would become of her and her puppies, Marvel began to guard them from the veterinary staff. Her rescue reached out to us and we agreed to accept her and her puppies into our program.

It took us time to gain Momma Marvel's trust. She had been bounced around so much and likely has had a litter in the past, and if that one had been taken from her it would make sense for her to defend this litter. We gave her the time and space she needed to feel comfortable and after two weeks, she was a completely different dog! Now she is affectionate, trusting, gentle, sweet, loving, and everything else you could ever ask for in a dog! She is doing a wonderful job raising her puppies, and will be with them until she decides it is time to wean them.

Marvel is very intelligent and would make a wonderful companion for anyone who loves hiking, playing, or cuddling after a long day. We have received so much interest in her puppies, but we want to be sure she isn't forgotten. She too needs to find a forever home, and we are on a mission to help her find the one she has waiting her whole life for!

Marvel would do best in a home with children over 13 (although she loves younger children she is very strong and high energy even for her small size) as the only pet. She is doing well with her crate training and has already mastered several obedience commands! If she sounds like your dream dog, apply below!
