Animal Sanctuary Tour Guide

Kerhonkson NY 

Full-Time 

5 days a week [Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday shifts from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm]

Do you enjoy sharing your love of animals with others? Are you comfortable speaking in group settings? Do you have a passion for animal care and enrichment? Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary is looking for an outgoing person to show folks around our animal sanctuary and to assist with our community outreach and adoptions programs.

At Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary, our mission is to provide a quality life to the animals who need it most. We specialize in behavioral and medical cases working toward restoring them to health and providing long term care to animals who cannot be rehomed. We require a tour guide to give tours to visitors showing them how to safely interact with our farm residence and guiding them through being part of our socialization and enrichment experiences for our sanctuary animals. All training will be provided but candidates must come with a strong desire to learn about our animals and their individual stories.

Daily Tasks Include as Follows

Airbnb Management

-  Operating Airbnb website to post available experiences, manage our experience pages,respond to messages from potential visitors, and schedule experiences.

-  Providing educational tours/experiences to sanctuary visitors.

-  Maintaining the cleanliness of our office and Airbnb station in the barn.

-  Providing an exceptional experience to all sanctuary visitors.

Community Outreach

- Answering phone calls and emails from members of the public relating to arranging tours,organizing events, coordinating donations, and answers questions about adoptions andsurrenders.

-  Coordinating offsite and onsite community outreach events, open house events, andadoptions events.

-  Creating and maintaining relationships with local businesses.

-  Scheduling and conducting private tours of the sanctuary as needed.

-  Assisting with our monthly sponsorship program as needed.

Adoptions Assistance

- Contacting personal, landlord, and veterinary reference checks for potential adopters.

 - Contacting previous adopters for alumni check-ins.

- Scheduling and conducting adoption meet and greet appointments.

- Photographing and videotaping animals for adoption.

Caretaking Assistance

- Assisting with barn and animal care tasks as needed to support farm caretaker staff members.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work and drive to work in all weather conditions

  • Must be available to work weekends and some holidays

  • Must live within a realistic driving distance of Kerhonkson NY

  • Must commit to (ideally) working through June 2022

 

Experience:

  • Farm animal care: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Comfortability with a range of animals

  • 19+ years of age

Animal Sanctuary Caretaker

Kerhonkson NY 

Full-Time Position: 40 Hours/Week Friday-Tuesday. Five 8 hour shifts from 11:00-7:00. Salary: $14.00/Hour


Job Summary: Provides the daily care for animals in our farm program.


Responsibilities:

- Provides the necessary food, water, and clean environment for all farm animals.
- Works with volunteers under the supervision of the Farm Manager and Volunteer Coordinator. - Provides exercise and necessary daily medical care for all farm animals.
- Cleans the housing areas of the farm for each species of animal.
- Alerts the Farm Manager to any potential problems with the farm animals.
- Assists in the day to day upkeep of the farm facilities, such as assisting with repairing fencing.
- Provides love and enrichment to the animals in our farm program.
- Assists in compiling social media content by taking regular photos/videos of the animals. Farm animals requiring care: Horses, Pigs, Goats, Cats, Dogs, Small Animals (Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Etc.)
