Animal Sanctuary Tour Guide and Caretaker

Kerhonkson NY 

Part-Time (with potential for full-time)

3 days a week [Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9am-6pm]


Do you enjoy sharing your love of animals with others? Are you comfortable speaking in group settings? Do you have a passion for animal care and enrichment? Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary is looking for an outgoing person to show folks around our animal sanctuary and to assist in providing animal care to our goats, pigs horses, kittens and K9s.


Tour Guide 70%: At Wayward Ranch Animal Sanctuary, our mission is to provide the best quality of life to animals who need it most. We specialize in behavioural and medical cases working toward restoring them to health and providing long term care to animals who cannot be rehomed. We require a tour guide to give weekend tours to visitors showing them how to safely interact with our farm residence and guiding them through being part of our socialization and enrichment experiences for our sanctuary animals. All training will be provided but candidates must come with a strong desire to learn about our animals and their individual stories.


Caretaker 30%: As part of the WRAS team, you will be part of providing necessary care towards our farm and k9 friends. The shared responsibilities of animal caretaking are critical in providing a high quality of life and enrichment to our permanent residence and adoptable animals.

Daily tasks include:

  • Cleaning stalls, barns, pastures as well as dog and cat rooms.

  • Assisting barn manger in simple medical procedures

  • Checking inventory

  • Feeding and medication administration

  • Monitoring animal health

  • Providing enrichment to our farm friends



  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.

  • Must be able to work and drive to work in all weather conditions

  • Must be available to work weekends and some holidays

  • Must live within a realistic driving distance of Kerhonkson NY

  • Must commit to (minimally) working through February 2022 



  • Farm animal care: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Comfortability with a range of animals

  • Desire to learn horse and special needs dog care 

  • 19+ years of age
